Workpiece
Welded structural components for wind-generator stators and rotors in the 4 MW–8 MW class.
Production Challenge
Large stators and rotors required repeatable automated welding while controlling variation in loading, unloading, and positioning.
AGR Solution
AGR combined operator-assisted loading/unloading, robotic welding, hydraulic fixtures, weld-position detection, and preconfigured welding programs.
System Configuration
Operator-assisted loading/unloading, robotic welding, hydraulic fixtures, weld-position detection for start-position location and offset correction, preconfigured welding programs, safety guarding, and interlocks.
Implementation
Applied in production at an AGR Group structural-parts factory. Component supply to turbine/generator manufacturers is distinct from the site where the robotic system operates.
Case Results
Case production is 4 rotors and 2 stators per 8-hour shift. UT inspection pass rate is 95% or higher. The case covers the 4 MW–8 MW class.
