System Overview
Industry: Construction Machinery Manufacturing
Key Results: Daily Capacity of 60 Units · 70% Labor Reduction · Over 80% Welding Completion Rate
Description
AGR delivered a fully automated welding line for a global construction machinery manufacturer, integrating robotic handling, seam recognition, welding, and MES connectivity.
The system supports 22 product types and ensures stable, high-efficiency production across multiple excavator boom and arm variants.

Client Background
This project was executed by
AGR’s structural fabrication subsidiary for the Chinese plant of a leading global construction machinery brand.
The client aimed to:
• Improve weld consistency and reduce manual risks
• Integrate the production line with its MES system
• Achieve higher automation and global-standard quality assurance

Key Customer Requirements
The client required a fully automated line that could:
• Compatibility with 22 boom and arm models, including Dagger variants
• Full MES integration with barcode-based program recall and result reporting
• High weld consistency with minimal spatter, eliminating post-grind steps
• Closed-loop logistics, from material handling to robotic coordination
• Precise cycle time control and long-term gripping stability

AGR Solution
To meet the client’s complex requirements, AGR delivered a fully integrated welding line combining robotic handling, welding, and logistics. The system includes:
• FANUC M-20iD/25 welding robot and M-900iB/360 handling robot
• Panasonic YD-350GS5 welder with multi-pass and pulse control
• MES-connected barcode interface, real-time monitoring, and intuitive HMI
• Hydraulic clamping fixtures for fast model switching (supports 17 types)
• Chain conveyor system with full PROFINET communication across subsystems

Project Results
• Fully automated end-to-end welding process
• One-click model switching and excellent spatter control — no post-grinding
• Labor reduction from 56 to 12 operators
• Daily output: 60+ units per 8-hour shift
• Seamless MES integration for production traceability
Project Timeline & Current Status
• Delivered in early 2022, the welding line has been running continuously for over two years with exceptional stability.
• The client rated the system highly for its reliability, precision, and production consistency.
